Field Trip 1/23/14

The work Miles Neidinger made was of circles and squares. Then put different designs in them. Miles made a art piece out of tape and then put it together in the museum. Also made a art piece with pipe cleaners and straws that represented consumption. It showed how his parents wanted to change the design of their house. Although the parents could have moved to another house.

So when talking about consumption I think it can be described as collecting a certain kind of favorite stuff and sometimes waste money to get it. I have had lots of collections. Today I still have consumptions of stuff I like. I really don't think it is a problem. Some people think it is bad to have collections. In some ways yes it's bad but if it makes someone happy to have a collection of games, rocks, or rich stuff it's fine by me.

  1. Collections are not bad. The house remodel "consumed" an excessive amount of time, energy, and disrupted the family. From this experience Miles related the William Blake quote "the road to excess leads to enlightenment". We put a lot of time and energy into what we value and sometimes that leads to the realization that maybe it wasn't really what we needed.

  2. I like your way of thinking and what pops out to you, because I saw different things when first looking at the art. It's good to get a different perspective. good job
